Applying to The Grammar School is a simple and personal process. We believe in making every step clear and straightforward for both students and parents.

All new students are required to take an entrance examination in English (or Greek for Greek speakers entering Class 1) and Mathematics.

Class 1

We understand that moving from primary to secondary school is an exciting yet challenging experience for students and parents alike.

  • Students from Cyprus public schools are offered a series of preparatory lessons to help them get ready for the entrance examinations.

  • Students from the Grammar School Junior are not required to take entrance exams, provided they have achieved above-average end-of-year grades.
Those with unsatisfactory grades must pass entrance examinations in English and Mathematics to secure a place in Class 1.

Before the school year begins, all Class 1 students are invited to attend two induction days in September, giving them the opportunity to get to know the school and their classmates before regular lessons start.

Class 1
Classes 2–4

New students entering Classes 2 to 4 are required to take entrance examinations in English and Mathematics.

Classes 5

Please note that, according to school policy, no new admissions are accepted for Class 5.

Class 6

New students applying for Class 6 must sit for entrance examinations in English and Mathematics.

After successfully passing, students select three or four A-Level elective subjects in addition to the compulsory curriculum.

Admission to A-Level subjects is based on prior knowledge equivalent to the successful completion of Higher-level GCSE/IGCSE or its equivalent. This requirement applies to all subjects except Politics and Graphic Communication.

Class 7

As per the school’s policy, no new students will be accepted or enrolled in Class 7 for the current academic year.

Recognising Achievement

Scholarships

  • Class 1: Scholarships may be awarded to the top-ranking students in the entrance examinations. These scholarships can be maintained until graduation, provided the student remains within the top 10% of their class each year.

  • Classes 2–7: Scholarships may be awarded based on end-of-year class rankings. These are limited to one academic year and apply only to the following school year.
